The news of recent days speak for themselves: the Cuban government wants to establish and expand at a rapid pace of economic and political ties in the international arena. However, this strategy does not appear to contemplate, so far, truly democratic and pluralistic changes in Cuba. Most of the contacts are pregnant they have very good democratic credentials, an example of this is the new Russian-Cuban ties. This revival makes us suspect to where the Cuban leadership would like to direct the future of the island. Establishing strong ties with the old Russian nomenclature, now grown into a powerful economic class, would grant the government of Raul not only an economic partner, but a political ally of weight in the international community.
is clear that the government does not want to risk their cards with a Hugo Chavez every day is more belligerent and without the slightest impulse control megalomaniac. For Cuba, the times of the constant confrontations are over, it's time to consolidate power. In this new context is hoping to secure the removal of the old guard with the appropriate positioning of their heirs. However

There is sometimes difficult to understand the Cuban reality. Not surprising as the government with popular backing and a country mired in a great crisis is convincing many that has control of the future. Not only convinces many of the Cubans on the island, but also does it with many who live elsewhere. Every day we see multiple analysis that ignore almost completely the possible reaction of the people and the ability of this to take the reins sometime in the future. Why such pessimism?
I do not know whether this phenomenon comes as a result of the inertia caused by years of government droop or lack effectiveness of our actions. I think excessive divisions and mistrust that have so proliferated in Cuban society ended up becoming the perfect setting for inaction. We realize joint initiatives to move towards a solution, perhaps it is in our faces.
prefer to be optimistic, I think the solutions will come, just do not understand why we need to dilate a situation that falls under its own weight.

Something is moving in Cuba. Have begun to blow air of structural changes. Although, as we see, we're just at the beginning of a new era in our history. We all remember when a month ago showed many voices claiming to help the student Eliecer Avila. It was evident the pressure was on him, but eventually the government managed to curb that the event took larger.
Although this time we do not have a video that became a journalism sensation at the time, if we have a Cuban who is being taken away the right to continue their studies for a way to express their views clearly and honestly. On the other hand we can be sure it is very unlikely to appear on television Nestor contradicting the spirit of his words and demands.
Nestor's case is not the first circular saw a few months ago a letter five cases . We can organize an effort to claim legitimate right of these Cubans to continue their studies. Claim to coincide with the recent signing by the government to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

If anything can we conclude from Commissioner Michel's visit is that there is an urgent need to do more political. It is clear that this visit is not just an isolated incident but part of a new strategy of the Cuban government. In recent days he was in Cuba, Cardinal Bertone second in the Vatican hierarchy. I do not think we realize we need more data about what is happening. It is clear that the Cuban government has undertaken an active foreign policy to seek more support, both politically and economically to enable it to time your favor. But it is unclear how this new strategy targets set. One reason may be because you decided to start reforms and want help and support from the international community. Another possibility is that this promising change, but in the end not only meet and timid economic reforms implemented. If the reason is first, because this is a promising scenario, however if the second I think very soon the government will see demonstrations for amendment of the Cubans.
What can we do? Well, I think we need to do more political. We understand that the government is making promises and obviously our rights and freedoms are part of those promises. Therefore we must take a more active role and reclaim our participation in the political and economic life of our country. If the government of the island it is the international community expressing a desire to improve the economic and political freedoms to the Cuban people and a spirit of goodwill to reach agreement, we must accept the offer, but has not expressed to us us. What does accept the offer? He wants say that acting in a mature and maintaining a position of respect, but clear and direct, we will demand recognition of our rights and duties as Cuban citizens. The need for these claims should be explicit both the Cuban government as to foreign governments or institutions that have been part of the talks.

Today we read the news about the expulsion Néstor González Pérez of the University of Pinar del Rio by the simple act of writing for the magazine Living. It is sad to realize how much we have to go way. How is it possible to talk about an open and honest debate when you are driving young people from universities for merely expressing what they think? I would like to remind the authorities have left few talented young people feel that our country can do nothing to change the existing crisis.
When someone takes the risk to raise their views openly is because the spirit behind it is to renew and transform the current situation. These youth are those that can ensure a better Cuba. Everyone can understand then the case of Eliecer Avila, but said that the revolution is above all was now the same fate of Nestor. Too bad that the authorities continue to create that great generation gap every day weighs more about our country.
